About this event

  • Event lasts 3 hours

The Little Library is an exhibition of Strathclyde University BA Primary teaching student's designs for Children's Picture Books. Students have written, illustrated and bound their own picture books. These are created to be used with children in classrooms to help them learn about the SDGs. A key concept is to foster and celebrate the creativity and imagination inherent in every teacher and every child. More than curate books for children, primary teaching students learn to create narratitves and texts that in the making provide a space to explore the pressing issues for our current times. In turn, see children as potential authors of their own powerful stories. Students are encouraged to adopt multicultural and multilingual perspectives and recognise the classroom as space that is already rich in knowldge, skills and resources.

There will be an opening and welcome from Paul Wickham and Jane Catlin at 1pm with light refreshments. The space will operate as a free flow until 4pm with opportunities to see the work, even create your own small zine, and blether about all things children's books, sustainability development goals, the arts, creativity, inclusion and equity and so much more!
