Overview

An expert panel on smarter marathon training, injury prevention and performance: elite insight, evidence-led guidance, live Q+A.

As part of The Long Run series at The Clubhouse Putney, join us for an evening of expert discussion and audience Q+A focused on running performance, training, and long-term resilience.

This panel brings together elite racing experience and performance expertise to help runners train smarter, manage load, reduce injury risk, and get more out of their running.

The panel includes:

Rose Harvey – Professional marathon runner, sharing real-world insight from elite-level training and racing, and what it truly takes to perform consistently at the highest level

Peter Tierney – Performance coach and sports scientist specialising in the application of technology to performance and health

Aidan O’Flaherty – Specialist running physiotherapist and strength & performance coach

Topics will include:

How elite runners structure and adapt marathon training

Managing training load, recovery, and fatigue

Using wearables and performance data without overcomplicating things

Strength training for marathon runners: what actually matters

Reducing injury risk while still progressing performance

The evening will conclude with an open Q+A, giving attendees the opportunity to ask questions directly to the panel.

Whether you’re training for the London Marathon or simply want to understand how to run better for longer, this session is designed to deliver clear, evidence-informed guidance from people working at the sharp end of running performance.
