The Master Shipwright's Midsummer Feast

Klose & Soan are cooks and caterers for hire - a partnership between chefs Matt Klose (formerly Grub London) and Sam Soan (previously Head Chef Camberwell arms & Franks cafe).  We are two friends and colleagues bringing our combined experience & passion in both the restaurant and event catering worlds to create something new and fresh.Our ethos is simple, to use the best seasonal produce we can to cook creatively, sustainably and collaboratively.  For us, nothing can beat the very best ingredients treated simply and with skill.  We aim to bring our unique style of refined yet unfussy, rustic and delicious food to any event. We cater for events ranging from corporate canapé receptions, large scale banquets, weddings and intimate private parties. Also keep a look out for our pop up restaurant nights, kitchen residencies and street food stalls across London.

Klose & Soan

This July, Klose & Soan, host a decadent evening of feast and folly in the surrounds of one of Londons most significant (and normally inaccessible), examples of maritime architecture, - the grade II listed Master Shipwright’s House. 
This exclusive dining experience will commence with an aperitif and canapes, where guests will be welcomed to relax in the Thames framed, Master Shipwright's romantic garden, accompanied by live jazz, courtesy of The Jazz Agency. Once dinner is ready, guests will then be invited to take their seats in The Master Shipwrights rustic, but none the less, grand, dining room, where following a short speech on the building's history, a lavish three-course banquet will be served, paired with a carefully selected list of natural and biodynamic wine for guests to choose from. Finally, once dinner is complete guests will again be invited, if they wish, to finish their evening in the garden under the stars. We hope you can join us for what promises to be a most memorable evening. ----------------------------------------------- Located in Deptford and nestled on the bank of the river Thames, The Master Shipwright's House (given grade II heritage status in 1993), and its location, has been tied with shipbuilding and trade as far back as the 1300s, seeing its dockyard provide moorings for many famous tall ships including the Golden Hinde. Perhaps most notably, however, it was the docks of the Master Shipwrights House that saw Sir Hugh Willoughby and Richard Chancellor set sail to Moscow, in 1553, where they succeeded in opening trade with the Russians. As a result, in 1555 the Russia company, one of the most successful of the early maritime companies, came into existence, and by 1698 now regarded as the internationally superior spot for all ship construction, welcomed Tsar Peter the Great, where he learnt shipbuilding techniques to take with him back to Russia. It is this rich history that imbues The Master Shipwrights House which will inform the thoughtfully crafted menu and entertainment for the evening, showcasing some of the finest locally wild and seasonal produce Deptford and it's surrounds has to offer, where, Klose and Soan will fervently reincarnate as well as reinterpret flavours of this maritime past that will evoke the seafaring spirit of Deptford. ----------------------------------------------- MENU Canape Nasturtium, Smoked duck, ginger & cherry or Nasturtium, Smoked beetroot, ginger & cherry (vg)
