The Monoprinted Landscape
An introductory day workshop using monoprint techniques where an image is built through layers of colour and texture. Tutor -Hetty Haxworth.
This Monoprinted landscape workshop introduces you to a printmaking technique where an image is built through layers of colour and texture. Coloured ink is rolled or painted onto a plastic sheet and repeatedly put through a small etching press, adding texture as you go. Think of the landscape in terms of stripes. The sky, horizon line and the land or water below. You can ink up and add grasses to your landscape or try a more painterly approach by using brushes
Finally you can build up texture by inking up relief wallpapers and by using clingfilm with plastic stencils.
The main aim is to enjoy playing with colour and you will be amazed with the results.
Suitable for all levels of experience.
Hetty Haxworth has been printmaking for the last 25 years since leaving The Glasgow School of Art. She works in a variety of printmaking techniques. Her work has been shown at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, the Royal Scottish Academy, Society of Scottish Artists and the Royal Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts. She lives and works from a studio in rural Aberdeenshire where the ever-changing colours and shapes of the landscape are an important source of inspiration for her abstract prints. As the countryside alters with the seasons, her work responds to transient shifts of light, capturing moments in colour.
