The 'pet effect': a reflective workshop

caar is a group of researchers, graduates and doctoral students, led by Dr Jo Williams and supported by Dr Janine Muldoon. We explore all aspects of relationships between children, adolescents and animals, and work closely with the Scottish SPCA.

The first in our series of workshops will focus on findings from our research projects that examined how interactions with pets are linked to various aspects of well-being in children/adolescents aged 11 to 15 years.
We welcome all those who are interested in our work to our events. Our workshop series is likely to be of particular interest to professionals/practitioners involved with child and/or animal welfare (animal welfare education, science education, teaching, social work, social care, police, juvenile justice, health). Workshop 1 has child well-being as a focus.
The format will comprise an introduction to our work, brief summaries of key findings, and focused opportunities to discuss and reflect on personal experience and the practical relevance of the research.
