The Play Cycle

The Playwork Foundation is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) that was founded in January 2018.Our vision is to be a collective voice for playwork, supporting playworkers.Our mission is to promote playwork and its guiding principles. We provide opportunities for playworkers to come together, nurture dialogue, empower each other and take collective action in support of every child’s right to play.

Understand what's happening during children's play.

This is a great way to help us understand and recognise what is actually happening when children play – and identifying what our role in it might be. This session is presented by Karen Benjamin and Ali Wood.

Ali Wood has been working with children and young people in a range of roles in both statutory and voluntary settings for over four decades - but has made playwork her 'home'. She is an established author and trainer/presenter in playwork and plays mostly with her grandchildren now and at Meriden Adventure Playground, Solihull, where she is also chair of the board of trustees. Ali is Secretary for and a trustee of The Playwork Foundation.
