An Adventure bike navigation event set in the heart of Wales on the best green lanes for both novice and experienced riders.
Powys Dakar 2026
Event Overview
A hybrid GPS and roadbook navigation challenge set on some of Wales's’s finest green lanes.
Teams of 2–6 riders will navigate a network of waypoints using plotted coordinates, teamwork, and strategy.
Bike eligibility:
Road-legal trail, adventure, or even mopeds are welcome.
Enduro bikes are not allowed.
Teams must stay together at all times—no splitting up to collect extra points.
Classes
Novice – Slightly easier (but still challenging) lanes. Recommended for larger bikes or first-timers.
Experienced – Tougher, trickier lanes for those familiar with Wales's’s green-lane terrain.
Navigation preparation is identical for both classes; only lane difficulty differs.
Saturday 19th September 2026 – MAIN EVENT
Time: 8:00–17:00
Format: GPS waypoint hunt
One month before the event, waypoint coordinates (Lat/Long + What3Words) will be emailed to team captains.
Plot them on your chosen navigation setup and build your own route strategy.
You’ll receive an answer sheet on Saturday morning.
Return to camp before 17:00 and hand in your completed sheet.
Prize giving on Saturday night.
Sunday 20th September 2026 – OPTIONAL ROADBOOK DAY
Scored separately (Saturday’s results used only as a tie-breaker).
Requirements
One team member will need a handlebar-mounted, powered:
Android phone/tablet or
iPhone/iPad
with the free “Seekers” app installed. Create a username and it will be added to the event group.
Format
Follow the digital tulip-style roadbook and match the mileages. Hidden virtual waypoints and speed traps measure your accuracy automatically.
Distance: ~100 km
Includes a built-in lunch stop.
No time pressure—most teams will finish between 14:00–15:00 even with a relaxed hour for lunch.
Location
TBC, Dolgellau area.
Features:
Large open site with plenty of tent space and hard standings for vans.
Fees
Entry fee covers both days of riding.
