The Queen Square GP Seminars 2017 - "Back Pain and Sciatica"
Tue 17 January 2017, 18:30 – 21:30 GMT
Please join Queen Square Private Healthcare and our colleagues at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, for the first event of 2017 of the popular Queen Square GP Seminars.
This event will focus on Sciatica and will be led by Mr Jonathan Hyam , Consultant Neurosurgeon at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery.
Low back pain and sciatica account for a significant portion of all cases of chronic pain in the UK, and represent a significant burden to the patient and the healthcare system. In the majority of cases, the care of patients with low back pain is managed in primary care.
In this focussed session, Mr Hyam will speak about different patterns of pain due to spinal disease and provide delegates with the information necessary to:
Be able to recognise and understand clinical patterns of radicular compression and,
Understand the underlying neuroanatomy of cauda equina syndrome, in order to be able to identify 'red flags' for emergency referral.
Following the seminar, all delegates are invited to the Queen Square Private Consulting Rooms at 23 Queen Square, where we will be hosting a drinks and networking reception.
