The Quiet Place

The Quiet Place

Overview

A two-hour guided creative rest experience

What is The Quiet Place?

The Quiet Place is a guided two-hour creative rest experience for busy minds.

This is not an art class. It is not about skill or performance. It is focused on the process, not result.

It is a gentle, structured space where we slow down and reconnect — through breath, grounding, journaling, subtle movement and intuitive mark-making. Similar to mindfulness, meditation, sound baths or yoga — The Quiet Place offers the same sense of rest and grounding, but here we use intuitive mark-making as our anchor.

Why?

Modern life is fast. We move from task to task, role to role, rarely stopping long enough to hear ourselves think.

The Quiet Place offers:

  • A reset for your nervous system
  • Space to soften perfectionism and pressure
  • A return to self-compassion
  • A chance to create without expectation
  • A reminder that rest is productive

What to Expect

You will be guided through:

  • A gentle arrival and grounding practice
  • Breathwork to settle the body
  • Light movement to release tension
  • Guided mark-making (no experience needed)
  • Quiet reflection and optional journaling
  • A warm most delicious chocolate drink to close the evening

Everything is optional. Only high quality art materials and tools provided.

About the Facilitator

Natalia Millman is a visual artist and creative facilitator based in St Albans. Her own practice began as a way to sit with grief, slow down, learn to let go off perfection and find another language when words were not enough. Over time, she saw how powerful this way of working could be to listen inward, help regulate emotions, develop resilience in post-traumatic growth. The Quiet Place grows from lived experience, community-led work and a belief that creativity belongs to everyone and can transform health. Natalia completed her Arts Council Project "Letters to Forever" ( solo exhibition and workshops) in August 2025 in St Albans. It was attended by over 2000 visitors.
