The Spaces Between
Staircases have long been more than a means of moving between floors. As one of the defining features of an interior, they shape first impressions, frame architectural vistas and, from grand sweeping forms to cinematic backdrops, have become enduring symbols of design.
In this architecture-led conversation, Roddy Clarke joins Steven Bray of EeStairs, architect Irene Gallou from Foster + Partners and interior designer Tolu Adeko to explore the art of making an entrance across residential, workplace and hospitality settings. Together, they will consider what makes a truly compelling entrance, how staircases have evolved into statements of design, and the role these spaces play in shaping how we move, meet, pause and experience a building.
From navigating unconventional layouts and balancing form with function, to maximizing space and creating a sense of arrival, this conversation will offer insight, inspiration and practical ideas for transforming one of the most transitional spaces in a building into one of its most memorable.
