Made to celebrate the 100th birthday of renowned Glasgow artist Hannah Frank (1908-2008), who lived in Govanhill for a significant part of her life and studied at Glasgow University and Glasgow School of Art. The film features interviews with Hannah Frank herself, plus her great nieces Barbara Spevack and Jen Rankin portraying Frank as a young artist.
Shot on location at Westacres Care Home (Newark Care), Newton Mearns, Glasgow, the Ben Uri Gallery & Museum in St John's Wood, London, the London Jewish Cultural Centre at Ivy House in Hampstead, and on the beach at Saltcoats, North Ayrshire.

This screening has been programmed in collaboration with The University of Glasgow and Fiona Frank and will accompany an exhibition of Frank’s work for the festival.

What is the Bat. Lab.? The Batson Street Laboratory or Bat. Lab. is a new experimental open-air screening space adjacent to the historic Govanhill Picture House, 49 Bankhall St, Glasgow G42 8SW built from a shipping container and recycled planters supported by Glasgow City Council’s Animating Spaces Fund and built by the Govanhill Baths Up Hub.
