Graham will tell us about this awful event near Bishopstone in Sussex on 3rd July 1940, and the sad loss of the driver Charles Henry Pattenden who was driving the steam train, locomotive 2244, as well as the story leading up to the fateful attack. It will include some details of railway operations in 1935-1940..
