This adaptation of Shakespeare’s The Tempest investigates how the dramatic arts can break the stigma and invisibility surrounding autism, and how taking part in a theatrical production enables resilience among young people with autismPeople’s Palace Projects is delighted to announce a new co-production of Shakespeare’s The Tempest in partnership with Flute Theatre (UK) and La Plaza Theatre (Peru) for and with autistic individuals and their families. The production had been developed during a four week digital theatre laboratory connecting UK and Peru.The one hour online performance, available in Spanish with English translation, investigates how the dramatic arts can break the stigma and invisibility surrounding autism, and how taking part in a theatrical production enables resilience among young people with autism.A specially adapted performance for and with one autistic individual created in response to Covid-19. The show has been adapted to digital in response to the Covid-19 pandemic using Flute’s Hunter Heartbeat Method. The UK theatre company has been developing a series of sensory drama games based on Shakespearean rhythms and language for 20 years and in the Covid-19 context, they have made over 700 online performances for and with autistic young people.
