The third space
Overview
Event Description - The Third Place
The Third Place is the first exhibition by limen, exploring spaces that exist in-between — between what was and what will be. These are places that are neither home nor work, but moments of pause, encounter, and possibility. Historically, third places were cafés or public squares; today they appear as buildings in transition, shifting neighborhoods, underground communities, digital spaces, or even inner emotional states.
For this exhibition, 11 artists respond to the theme through photography, using their lenses to explore different interpretations of the “in-between.” Their works move from vacant urban lots to rivers as sites of worship; from bridges that become destinations to queer underground networks of care; from suspended interior worlds to digital personas; and from architectural fragments to monuments marked by fleeting gestures.
Across these perspectives, the “third place” emerges as void, transition, community, longing, and memory. It is the moment where the city - and we along with it - pause before we shift. A space where ambiguity opens new possibilities.
