The VOLT project: Voting on Ledger Technologies

Designing secure electronic voting systems is particularly challenging because of the need to demonstrate the integrity of the election while ensuring ballot secrecy for voters. End-to-end verifiability provides an approach to resolving these challenges.

In this talk Steve Schneider, Professor in Secure Systems at the University of Surrey, describes these issues, and will introduce the VOLT project, which is investigating the role that Distributed Ledger Technologies can play in supporting end-to-end verifiable voting systems, and thereby underpin their trustworthiness.

Steve Schneider has been working in secure electronic voting for 15 years, and is currently leading the VOLT project.
