The Windsor Ultra

Race Overview:

Windsor Ultra competitors must arrive for registration and equipment checks, between 7.00am and 7.30 am at The Catherine Wheel, J D Wetherspoon, Henley, RG9 2AR.

Race start for the event will be 8.00 am, following a race brief.

Transport:

Competitors must be self-sufficient in getting to the start and from the finish.

Route:

From Henley continue down river to Seven Corner Alley and Marlow Lock. At Cookham Bridge leave the river briefly, into the village and onto the open common, Cookham Moor. Returning to the river at Formosa Place and taking the river crossing at Maidenhead Bridge. Under the M4 motorway bridge and continue into the field of Dorney, Thames Field.

Several meanders more, taking in Boveney Lock, the Windsor Racecourse and the bathing places for the school boys of Eton.

Enter Brocas Meadow, with Windsor Castle in full view, over Windsor Bridge. Continue through Runnymede, Bellweir lock, Staines Bridge and the intake to the vast Queen Mary Reservoir.

Past Shepperton Lock, along Walton Lane, through Teddington continue on to Albany Canoe & Sailing Centre which is Camp-Site Three for Thames Challenge competitors, or the conclusion of The Windsor Ultra.

Check-point food:

The Cotswold Ultra benefits from four check-points; all of which will provide water and some nutrition.

Example items which may change are:

Malt loaf, cake, jam, peanut butter, cheese or marmite sandwiches, nuts, dried fruits, sweets, squash, cola and water.

We endeavour to cater for Gluten Free, Vegan, Vegetarian and non restrictive diet competitors. When you enter please advise your choice. Dietary requirements outside these options must be provided by the competitor, but we will happily leave drop bags at CP Stations for you.

We would ask however that you do not rely on these alone and take only what you need with consideration for the other runners still to come in to the checkpoints.

CP Distances:

Start to Checkpoint 1 - 9.5 miles

Checkpoint 1 to Checkpoint 2 - 12 miles

Checkpoint 2 to Checkpoint 3 - 13.9 miles

Checkpoint 3 to Finish - 12.9 miles
