    Join THE WORD: A Writing Group for Black Women

    Discover the power of your voice and connect with a community of like-minded Black women at THE WORD, a unique writing group that meets every week, in blocks of 4. Here, we delve into a range of topics, from the impacts of colonisation to the cultural significance of our hair. This circle was designed as a safe, empowering space where Black women can engage in stimulating conversations and share their writing.


    About this Event

    We invite you to join us as we work together to produce a compelling collection of stories and writings. These creations will be showcased in early 2025 within some of Haringey's most iconic buildings. Our workshops are structured in 4-week blocks, each focusing on different themes. Feel free to sign up for one or all three workshops to fully explore and express your voice.


    Come, be a part of this transformative experience where silenced voices are heard, validated, and celebrated. Let's write, share, and build a powerful community together.

    Bevali Mckenzie is a licensed holistic therapist, mindfulness instructor, childcare practitioner, and mentor. She is passionately committed to advancing social justice by providing and maintaining anti-oppressive and culturally responsive practices within her holistic private practice and the community.

    Sorry, because of the limited space children are not allowed

    Can I attend if I am not Black

    No, this group is for Black women only

    Will there be any access issues?

    You will have to be able to walk up a flight of stairs to the first floor. There is no lift. Please call us for more information.

    Is there parking at the event?

    There is some parking on side streets, but it can be quite limited. Some buses will put you right outside. 144, W7, 217

    Are there refreshments?

    We will have tea, coffee and biscuits. Please feel free to bring your snacks if you need to. There are also plenty of places locally to grab something to eat.

    Is the £40 for four weeks?

    Yes it is for the four weeks, one subject. Ticket price includes refreshments
