learn more about the persona of Picasso and the current exhibition at Tate Modern

You can also follow this talk live online are as a replay!

Pablo Picasso was fascinated by performers and their ability to transform. He was inspired by the dancers, entertainers and bullfighters he painted and borrowed from them to create his own public persona: Picasso, the Artist. Join Tate guide Alan to learn more!

Picasso painted ‘The Three Dancers’ one hundred years ago and Tate Modern has taken this anniversary to stage ‘Theatre Picasso’, an exhibition which looks at how ‘performance’ was central to the artist’s practice.  Described as ‘a playful choreography of Picasso artworks in a theatre space’ this lecture will explain some of those ideas before taking a more conventional art-historical approach to look at some of the works in the exhibition.  Virtually all of Tate’s Picassos are on show and this is an exceptional opportunity to consider the work of the most important painter of the twentieth century.

Upon booking you will receive an automated email from Eventbrite with instructions on how to join.
