Therapeutic Thinking For Parent Carers
Objective:This workshop is designed to equip parents and carers with the tools and knowledge to better understand and respond to their children’s emotional and behavioural needs. It emphasises fostering positive behaviours and emotional regulation while reducing dependence on punitive measures. The workshop highlights strategies to create nurturing environments that promote children’s mental health and valued behaviour.
Workshop Content:
- Emotional vocabulary and literacy: building self-awareness and empathy
- Understanding externalising and internalising behaviours
- Trauma-informed practice and its impact on behaviour
- Strategies to foster positive, valued behaviour without relying on punishment or bribery
Learning Outcomes:
- Gain a deeper understanding of therapeutic thinking and its application in supporting children’s behaviour
- Learn how to create a nurturing, supportive environment for emotional regulation
- Understand how trauma and attachment issues may influence behaviour
- Be equipped with practical strategies to reduce dependency on punitive approaches and statutory services
