About this event
CONNECT THROUGH CLAY
Empty your mind and reconnect with yourself as you emerse in a gentle and grounding evening of exploration and mindful "me time' through the medium of clay.
The tactile nature of clay provides a unique sensory and somatic experience that can alleviate stress and help you to unwind. The simple pleasure of moulding clay can be incredibly therapeutic, allowing you to temporarily disconnect from the information overload and endless tasks of daily life.
Our focus will be on working with our personal connection with the material rather than technical skills and perfection as the technical outcome is less important than the process in this instance. The focus will be on working slowly and in rhythm with the breath.
Sometimes, words fall short when it comes to conveying our emotions and experiences. Clay work offers an alternative form of expression that goes beyond verbal communication, providing an invaluable medium for self-discovery and emotional exploration. There should be time for those who wish to share their reflections after making.
Disclaimer: I am not a qualified art therapist. This workshop is for grounding and self exploration and should not be seen as art therapy or trauma healing.
Frequently asked questions
You are best wearing something comfortable that you don't mind getting messy in, for example and old t-shirt or art shirt. You are welcome to bring an apron should you like. It is advised that you take off any rings as they may get dirty but you can pop them in your bag at the start.
Just yourself and an open mind! Everything else will be provided for you. However, you are encouraged to bring a journal for any reflections that you may want to write down and a bottle of water.
Absolutely not! This workshop requires zero artistic ability. The workshop focuses on the process of reconnecting to the self and exploring any emotions that may come up, rather than learning the art of pottery and ceramics.
Many people have come on their own to sessions not knowing anyone. We understand that this can be quite daunting but would like to reassure you that Therapots sessions are kept as a warm, welcoming and non judgemental space for people to connect to both themselves and with others.
