These Walls Must Fall Panel

STAR (Student Action for Refugees) are the only student-led refugee rights charity in the UK. With some 13,000 members, we seek to improve the lives of refugees and asylum seekers through targeted campaigns and volunteering schemes in Eastern Bristol. We also seek to educate people about who refugees/ asylum seekers are, debunking myths about asylum and highlighting the often extremely difficult realities of life for these people under the complex and unequal British asylum system. The money raised from this event will be used to help fund further volunteering schemes to help fund further volunteering schemes to help children in Lawrence Hill and will be utilised to further our Equal Access Campain- equality of rights to access university.

This is a panel cohosted by two STAR (Student Action for Refugees) Groups, Bristol and Sheffield Hallam. We are university groups that campaign and volunteer to support and empower those with refugee and asylum seeker status in the UK. We will be talking to a panel of campaigners, councilors and people from the refugee community about what immigration detention is, how it works in the UK, what the campaign has achieved so far and what problems we still need to address. If you want to learn more about the issue of indefinite detention, about the hostile environment in the UK and about how you can be a part of the fight against it then join us for this conversation. We will be hosting a discussion with the speakers, followed by a Q&amp;A session in which you will get a chance to ask your own questions! Looking forward to seeing you there!
