Thinking by Design is a series of encounters by Chara Stergiou, for anyone interested in architecture and design as an expanded field. From prospective students to curious minds, participants are invited to further their understanding of design and its creative process through a series of 1 and ½ hour sessions. The courses encourage a transdisciplinary understanding of the above-mentioned fields as informed by current creative practices, studios, academic curricula, exhibitions, publications, in short, contemporary thinking and practice.In each session, we are going to deal with historical and theoretical knowledge in a non-linear way. Each course focuses on a specific subject, starting from a crucial moment or project in architectural history, theory or practice, in view of opening it up to further critical and creative reflections.Thinking by Design is formed as participatory lectures and their schedule intentionally follows a parallel agenda of local events, exhibitions and happenings that complement the educational experience. • City walks &amp; visits related to the session’s themes will be included.• Participants are welcome to keep their personal ‘creative journal’ and short exercises will be handed though they are non-mandatory.The sessions aim to provide participants with a perspective on how practitioners have articulated their practice in relation to a learning through thinking and making approach. It intends to enhance an interdisciplinary skill set and improve creative media skills. She holds a diploma in Architecture as well as an MSc in Post-Industrial Design (University of Thessaly) and an MA in Contemporary Art Theory (Goldsmiths, University of London). Her writings and research span from spatial studies and their aesthetic and media affordances to her latest art-as-research methodological and pedagogical projects. She works independently in projects and programmes affiliated with institutions and collectives while conducting workshops, seminars and presentation of research in several European organizations (Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Swiss Artistic Research Network, Biennial of Young Artists from Europe &amp; the Mediterranean, PACT-Zollverein, State of Concept Athens).
