Join us for an interactive drop-in workshop where you can learn all about Canopy’s award-winning self-help community retrofit project.

This is how we do it!

Canopy Housing have been retrofitting empty homes with teams of volunteers from the local community for almost thirty years now.

During that time, more than 1,000 volunteers have passed through our doors, with over 100 of them being self-helpers (people in desperate housing need, who get to move in at the end of each project).

We use natural materials like woodfibre, sheepswool and lime plaster and work to very high standards. Our volunteers learn green building skills and team building on live construction sites, helping develop their confidence and social skills to help them with their day-to-day lives.

Join us for the official launch of Canopy’s Guide to Retrofit, where speakers from Canopy Housing will talk about:

• How we got where we are today
• How we paid for it
• How we run our community retrofit sites
• How our self-help model works
• Why we retrofit the way we do.

We’ll also be providing food and refreshments, running workshops for kids and young people, and offering face-to-face advice, workshops, and drop-ins for people who would like to know more.
