Join us for our second This is Nelson: Community Assembly event, to kickstart the New Year with new conversations, inspiring ideas and to find out how you can get involved with This is Nelson in 2023.6pm - Arrival and light food6.20 - Introductions6.30 - Roundtable presentations and conversations 7.30 - Break7.45 - Final comments/ notices8:00 - EndChildren&#x27;s activities will be provided for over 5s for the duration of the event.If you have any accessibility requirements, just let us know and we&#x27;ll do our best to accommodate.We&#x27;ll be joined by our five This is Nelson artists, who&#x27;ll be giving quick-fire 7 min presentations about their research and projects, so you can find out more and possible ways to get involved.We&#x27;ll be joined by our five This is Nelson artists, who&#x27;ll be giving quick-fire presentations about their research and projects, so you can find out more and possible ways to get involved.* Kristina Borg will be focussing her research into Nelson’s food growing and its natural resources. Kristina will be based in and around the Victoria Park, the canal and the wider green spaces as well as the Pavilion Café. Kristina will be hosting a number of walking sessions to get to know local people and the local area.* Dana Orlescu will be working in the Nelson’s neighbourhoods, led by the work that Building Bridges are doing through their Good Neighbours programme. Dana is interested in working with asylum seeker and refugee groups and meeting the wider Eastern European communities. Her proposal is to look at food resilience, social justice and climate change via art workshops and food labs* Micheal Powell will be focussing in the town centre, looking at underused spaces and the commons. We have asked him to think about accessibility within his work and he will be hosting participatory mapping sessions.* Sam Jones will be looking at developing community-led infrastructure. Sam will help us create an audit of potential groups or opportunities for self-organisation and mechanisms like community land trusts.* Eva Sajovic will be developing a commission for the British Textile Biennial, Blackburn.* Andy Abbott will be presenting the Future of Work project.* Ripple Effect: The ‘Ripple Effect’ is a project developed by the local community in Nelson (Pendle) supported by Super Slow Way and local partners, funded by the National Lottery Communities fund for the next two years.
