This is US – Storytelling Through Fabric Art
Join us for a creative journey exploring personal stories through fabric art! Creating a collective Art hanging which will be exhibited
This October for Newham Black History Month, Join local Artist and Arts Educator Antonietta Torsiello for a two-day workshop where you can come and enjoy fabric art activities to express personal and collective stories and contribute to a large collaborative hanging artwork.
What will we be making?
You will design your own fabric squares using the techniques demonstrated. Having access to materials such as fabric paints, embroidery threads, printing blocks, appliqué materials, and sketching supplies.
The theme is reclaiming, and celebrating the narratives of Newham's Black diaspora through textile arts and learning new techniques in the process.
What happens to the art we make at the workshop?
These square patches will be stitched together to make large fabric hanging art work that will be exhibited at a location in Newham. All the people involved in making the hangings will be invited to the exhibition opening.
