Description

This Stuff Matters

Sitting in a lock-up somewhere in London is a hidden history of homelessness and housing in the UK. This is a history that shows us what has happened on the streets, in hostels, in politics and in people’s lives over the last 70 years. We believe This Stuff Matters and hope you do too.

On 09 December the Museum of Homelessness This Stuff Matters crew along with Streets Kitchen will be taking over the gallery at Islington Central Library to share some of it with you. Our team have chosen 6 key items from the archive that they think matter to homelessness today.

We have had quite alot of interest in the event so are looking forward to it being busy so please do consider dropping in throughout the afternoon.

Join us on the day to see why we think it matters and to see if you agree.

What to Expect

We have been offered a small space to share a handful of archival records to share with you including historical accounts of homelessness through to present day examples. We will be displaying these on boards and having discussions with visitors throughout the afternoon.

Performances

We will also be sharing poetry and spoken word from Streets Kitchen poets and from our archive as well as music. Performances will start from 4pm.

For any of our visitors who have a furry friend, we will have the fantastic Street Vet team nearby at the Solidarity Centre to offer some TLC.

Supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
