Spend a day discovering what a community climate hub for a day in Oxford could look like - with talks, stalls, workshops and conversations

THRIVE Oxford is a day dedicated to showing what a community climate hub would look like in Oxford. Whether you are looking to learn more about the climate crisis and how we can build community resilience, or simply to share a day connecting and exploring, THRIVE Oxford has something for everyone.What to expect:Talks: these will be running throughout the day. Social philosopher Roman Krznaric will be talking about long-term thinking and how to be a good ancestor; former Deputy Leader of Oxfordshire County Council, Pete Sudbury, will highlight the impact of the climate crisis on Oxfordshire and how we must plan for the future.Workshops: learn about Climate-Friendly Neighbourhoods in Oxford with the Coalition for Healthy Streets and Active Travel. Find out how we can co-create thriving communities whilst respecting our planet with the Oxford Doughnut Economics Collective.Stalls: From seeing honey bees up close, a second-hand climate and nature book stall, to in-depth information about how to save energy in your home - our stalls will be packed with variety. Also expect yummy food throughout the day!Children's activities: Not only will there by a family nature-craft area, and plenty of stalls for children (including honey bees!), the renowned children’s book author and illustrator Mini Grey will be giving a whistlestop tour of the story of Earth in 'The Greatest Show on Earth'.Crafts: There will be a craft area, including the chance to make your own badges, and lots of creative stalls.(Check out our Agenda for the speakers and workshop programme below but please note that, at this stage, the exact timings may be subject to change.) THRIVE Oxford is organised by Climate Collective Oxford. Admission to hear the individual speakers is on a first-come, first-served basis but if you miss a speaker there will be plenty going on all day!  Listen to a conversation between two climate campaigners, find out about what paths they took, and ask your questions.

Journeys to climate action

Leading social philosopher Roman Krznaric explores what it means to be a Good Ancestor and how we can take lessons from history to build a better future.

How to Be a Good Ancestor

Join a workshop to help co-create a vision for climate-friendly neighbourhoods in Oxford with the Coalition for Healthy Streets and Active Travel (CoHSAT).
