Through Ink and Thread
Join two award-winning artists in the intimacy of their studio and create a personal art piece on linen using embroidery and ink drawing.
Samira, a painter specialised in portraiture and Emma, a multidisciplinary artist working with embroidery, are collaborating to host this unique workshop. They will guide you through the process of creating a meaningful art piece from a photo you bring on the day. This image is completely of your choosing, in either a printed version or simply on your phone.
Split into 2 parts, the workshop covers: ink drawing and embroidery on linen, with time for a break in between. The first part, led by Samira, will focus on drawing the image of your chosen memory on linen, where you’ll be supported through drawing construction and important shading elements. Whilst it dries, we will take the time to reflect, discuss and build our ideas for the embroidery session. Emma will take you through the process of translating those thoughts and reflections into embroidery on your piece, ranging from words, flowers or lines that enhance your drawing. The artists will be there to support, guide and help with any technical aspects of your creation.
All materials are provided.
The workshop has a 6 people maximum capacity to keep it intimate and a moment to relax and share with others.
