Do I need to be artistic to take part?

Accepted Answer

No, you don't need to be artistic, but you will need to be able to use both hands to control the clay on the wheel.

Will you tell me what to do?

Accepted Answer

Yes, Roisin will give you very clear instructions so you can have the best experience possible.

Question 3

How long will it take to finish my pot?

Accepted Answer

We have allowed 30 minutes, which from experience, we know is plenty time to have a good experience of throwing a pot.

Question 4

Can I take my pot home when I've finished it?

Accepted Answer

No, you won't be able to take it away, I'm afraid.  This is an experience only event, so the only thing you'll be able to take away from it is a happy memory... and maybe a photograph!

Question 5

Do I need to wear special clothing?

Accepted Answer

You don't need to wear anything special, but don't wear your best clothes, as it's a messy business.  We will provide an apron on the day.

Question 6

I use a wheelchair.  Will I be able to take part?

Accepted Answer

We do not have any throwing wheels which have been adapted for use with a wheelchair, but depending on each person's individual ability, Roisin is confident that she can offer an alternative making experience for those who can't manage the wheel throwing.

Question 7

What if I need to go to the toilet?

Accepted Answer

We don't have public toilet facilities, but we do have standard ladies and gents staff toilets in the building, which you will be welcome to use.

Question 8

Can I throw a pot if I have long fingernails?

Accepted Answer

No.  I'm afraid long fingernails will make throwing a pot almost impossible.  Make sure your nails are no longer than the end of your actual finger.

Question 9

What if my legs aren't long enough to reach the pedal of the wheel?

Accepted Answer

That's okay.  Roisin will control the pedal for anyone who can't quite reach.

Question 10

Do children need to be accompanied by an adult?

Accepted Answer

Children up to age 13 will need an appropriate adult with them, even if that adult isn't taking part in the activity.
