Five short talks on the biggest topics in AI safety, and what you can do about them. No tech background needed.
The conversation about the risks of AI is happening almost entirely inside the industry, in technical language, between people who already work on it. The decisions being made now will shape all of our lives, and most of us have no way into that conversation, and women are the least likely of all to be in the room. The AI Girls Club exists to change that, and The Lightning Round is our biggest attempt yet.
We started with an Instagram account and have grown into a community of thousands of women who want to understand AI risk. Our first two live events sold out, and the women who came have gone on to talk to their families about AI, sign up to courses, email their MPs and in some cases start moving their careers into the field. The feedback we heard more than any other was that the room was too small for everyone who wanted to be in it, so this time we have made it bigger.
On the morning, five women who work on these questions will each take ten minutes to explain one of the topics our community asks about most, from misalignment and superintelligence to what governments are and are not doing about it and how women are building careers in AI safety from every kind of background. There are no slides, no jargon and no assumed knowledge.
Come if you are curious, come if you are worried, and come if you have no idea where to start, because that is exactly who this is for.
