Overview

India-U.K Bioinformatics Workshop featuring lectures and work modules for R-based Genomics and Agri-Bioinfo projects using crop datasets.

TIGR2ESS is a Grow Award by Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) of the Research Councils U.K. (RCUK), to define a sustainable green revolution for India through research collaboration, exchanges and enhancing female empowerment. The TIGR2ESS programme is built around six major Flagship Projects, ranging from Research and Management for enhanced crop productivity, to Community Welfare for Sustainable rural Livelihoods.TIGR2ESS collaborators across all six FPs regularly organise extensive programmes of training and educational outreach in India. The focus of out present workshop is Open Software for Bioinformatics and Computational Biology.

Workshop Content

The workshop will have lectures, Hands-on modules and exercises for use of 'R' in biological data analysis and advanced crop genomics. We will also explore techniques for data mining and analysis of scientific literature. The workshop is expected to be very data intensive and delegates are required to fully attend all days.

Who Can Attend?

The workshop can accommodate a maximum of 50 participants. It is open to students, academics, and researchers from Universities, Colleges, and the Industry. Anyone with basic coding skills on Unix is welcome. Knowledge of R is useful but not necessary. Participants will be expected to bring laptops.

Application Procedure and Registration Fee

Anyone can apply to the workshop by filling the Registration Form on this Page. 50 applicants will be selected based on received applications. Selected participants will be informed by 15th January 2019, and will be required to formally register by paying the Registration Fee within a week from date of selection. TIGR2ESS partners can attend the workshop for free. For everyone else, Registration fee is INR15K for Postdocs and INR10K for Students. A limited number of scholarships are available to cover the fees. The Fee covers all workshop materials, software installations, crop genomic datasets, Access to Hi Speed WiFi and certificates of attendance. Registration Fee also includes lunch every day and Refreshments twice a day. Participants will need to arrange their own travel and accommodation in New Delhi.
