✨ Bienvenue dans les mondes fantastiques de Tim Burton! Nous vous invitons à un voyage à travers la musique qui les a rendus inoubliables. Un concert unique aura lieu le 20 février à 20h00, dans l’atmosphère enchanteresse de la Salle académique de l'Université au cœur de Liège. 

De l’émerveillement scintillant d’Alice au pays des merveilles à la magie festive de L’Étrange Noël de monsieur Jack, du lyrisme mélancolique d’Edward aux mains d’argent au génie excentrique de Charlie et la chocolaterie — ce concert vous plonge dans les paysages sonores qui ont façonné l’univers cinématographique unique de Burton.

Au centre de tout cela se trouve la musique de Danny Elfman, collaborateur de toujours de Burton et l’un des compositeurs de musique de film les plus marquants de notre époque. La musique d’Elfman mêle malice et menace, tendresse et grandeur — un parfait reflet de l’imagination visuelle de Burton. Aux côtés d’Elfman, le programme comprend des moments inoubliables issus de: Les Noces funèbres, du film culte Beetlejuice, de la majesté gothique de Batman et du drame tranchant de Sweeney Todd: Le diabolique barbier de Fleet Street.

Dans cette première, La Chapelle Sauvage fait revivre les mondes de Burton à travers des arrangements originaux. Attendez-vous à des voix envoûtantes, des couleurs instrumentales audacieuses et une atmosphère qui change en un instant — du macabre au magique, de l’intime à l’épique.

Ce n’est pas seulement un concert de bandes originales — c’est une expérience théâtrale vivante. La magie mystérieuse de ce concert naîtra de la connexion entre les musiciens et l’architecture environnante.

Les organisateurs du concert sont l'agence créative RED EVENTS & Distribution ltd, qui organise des événements culturels exceptionnels dans d'anciennes demeures, sur des toits, dans des serres et dans d'autres lieux très atmosphériques d'Europe, de Grande-Bretagne, d'Azerbaïdjan, de Géorgie et d'autres pays. Le répertoire comprend également une collection de concerts à la lumière des bougies et en immersion totale dans l'espace de l'art vidéo et du son.

La Chapelle Sauvage est née sous l'impulsion du jeune chef d'orchestre belge Karel De Wilde. Il s’agit d’un ensemble international de jeunes musiciens professionnels venant de partout dans le monde. Ce qui les a réunis et ce qui les caractérise, c’est une ambition musicale sauvage et indomptable doublée d'une attitude contemporaine, critique et réflexive. Outre un vaste répertoire classique, ils osent également se lancer dans divers projets de styles très variés. Hormis leur noyau fixe, leur effectif se modifie constamment selon le répertoire, afin de parvenir à une répartition équilibrée, étant toujours à la recherche d'une exécution créative et d'une authenticité justifiée, en utilisant pour ce faire la connaissance et les techniques les plus modernes dont nous disposons à ce jour.

✨ Welkom in de fantastische werelden van Tim Burton! We nodigen je uit voor een reis door de muziek die deze werelden onvergetelijk heeft gemaakt. Оp 20 februari om 20.00u vindt een uitzonderlijk concert plaats in de sfeervolle Academische zaal van de Universiteit in hartje Luik.

Van de fonkelende verwondering van Alice in Wonderland tot de feestelijke magie van The Nightmare Before Christmas, van de aangrijpende lyriek van Edward Scissorhands tot de excentrieke schittering van Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, dit concert dompelt je onder in de klankwerelden die Burtons unieke filmuniversum hebben gevormd.

Centraal staat de muziek van Danny Elfman, Burtons levenslange samenwerkingspartner en een van de meest karakteristieke filmcomponisten van onze tijd. Elfmans muziek verweeft speelsheid met dreiging, tederheid met grandeur en is een perfecte weerspiegeling van Burtons visuele verbeelding. Naast Elfman, omvatten de hoogtepunten onvergetelijke momenten uit Corpse Bride, de cultfavoriet Beetlejuice, de gotische zwaarte van Batman en het vlijmscherpe drama van Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

In deze première brengt La Chapelle Sauvage Burtons werelden tot leven in een unieke arrangementen. Verwacht zwevende stemmen, gedurfde instrumentale kleuren en een sfeer die in een oogwenk verandert, van macaber naar magisch, van intiem naar episch.

Dit is niet zomaar een soundtrackconcert — het is een live theatrale ervaring. De mysterieuze magie van het concert ontstaat door de wisselwerking tussen de musici en de omringende architectuur.

🎻La Chapelle Sauvage 

La Chapelle Sauvage is een artistiek huis met vele kamers. Het ontstond onder impuls van de Belgische dirigent Karel De Wilde als een internationaal initiatief van jonge professionele musici komende uit geheel de wereld. Wat hen samenbracht en typeert is een wilde en ontembare muzikale ambitie met een eigentijdse, kritische en reflectieve attitude. 

Karel De Wilde studeerde op jonge leeftijd piano, orgel, klavecimbel en contrabas, en vervolgens orgel, muziektheorie en orkestdirectie aan de Koninklijke Conservatoria van Gent en Mons. Reeds vroeg werden zijn veelzijdige talenten in binnen-en buitenland opgemerkt en werd hem aangeboden om deze uitermate te laten ontwikkelen. Zo werden verschillende van zijn composities succesvol internationaal gecreëerd en concerteerde hij in aanwezigheid van tal van Europese prominente persoonlijkheden. Het was Karel's arrangement van het

Belgische Volkslied dat geselecteerd en uitgevoerd werd te Brussel door het Nationaal Orkest van Kroatië in aanwezigheid van de Europese regeringsleiders op de dag van hun toetreding tot de EU. Karel wordt aanschouwd als één van Belgiës meest beloftevolle nieuwe dirigenten en is een graag geziene artistieke partner van talrijke artiesten en culturele organisaties. Hiervan getuigen de succesvolle samenwerkingen met La Chapelle Sauvage, Red Events, An Pierlé, Podium Nieuw Talent, Davidsfonds, Beauraing Festival of Sacred Music, Festival van Vlaanderen en vele anderen.

Niettegenstaande hun vaste kern modificeert hun bezetting zich gedurig naargelang het repertoire, dat een grote verscheidenheid aan kamermuziek bevat evenals werken voor symfonisch orkest en regelmatig samenwerkt met koren en internationale solisten. Hierbij steeds opzoek naar een creatieve en authentiek verantwoorde uitvoering, gebruik makende van de kennis en modernste technieken waarover we heden ten dage beschikken.

From the shimmering wonder of Alice in Wonderland to the festive magic of The Nightmare Before Christmas, from the haunting lyricism of Edward Scissorhands to the eccentric brilliance of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory — this concert immerses you in the soundscapes that shaped Burton’s unique cinematic universe. 

At the heart of it all is the music of Danny Elfman, Burton’s lifelong collaborator and one of the most distinctive film composers of our time. Elfman’s music blend playfulness with menace, tenderness with grandeur — a perfect mirror of Burton’s visual imagination. Alongside Elfman, highlights include unforgettable moments from Corpse Bride, the cult favourite Beetlejuice, the gothic sweep of Batman, and the razor-sharp drama of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

In this premiere, La Chapelle Sauvage brings Burton’s worlds to life in unique arrangements. Expect soaring voices, bold instrumental colours, and an atmosphere that shifts in an instant — from the macabre to the magical, from the intimate to the epic.

This is not just a soundtrack concert — it is a live theatrical experience. The mysterious magic of the concert will be created by the connection between the musicians and the surrounding architecture.

🎻 La Chapelle Sauvage

La Chapelle Sauvage is an artistic house with many rooms. It saw light by the impulse of the Belgian conductor Karel De Wilde as a teamwise and international initiative of young professional musicians coming from all over the world. What gathered them is a wild and untameable musical ambition with a contemporary, critical and reflective attitude.

Karel De Wilde is a versatile artist. He studied piano, organ, harpsichord and double bass at a young age, and then organ, music theory and orchestral conducting at the Royal Conservatories of Ghent and Mons. His compositions were successfully created internationally and he performed in the presence of many prominent European personalities. It was Karel's arrangement of the Belgian National Anthem that was selected and performed in Brussels by the National Orchestra of Croatia in the presence of the European heads of government on the day of their accession to the EU. Karel is regarded as one of Belgium's most promising new conductors and is a welcome artistic partner of numerous artists and cultural organisations. This is evidenced by the successful collaborations with La Chapelle Sauvage, Red Events, An Pierlé, Podium Nieuw Talent, Davidsfonds, Beauraing Festival of Sacred Music, Festival van Vlaanderen, Rusanda Panfili and many others.

In addition to a large classical repertoire, La Chapelle Sauvage gladly ventures into various projects in multiple styles. Notwithstanding the solid core, their instrumentation continually modifies according to the repertoire which contains a wide variety of chamber music as well as works for symphony orchestra and regularly collaborates with choirs and international soloists. Ever in search for a creative and responsible performance, hereby using the knowledge and techniques which are known to us today.
