Hidden Juke-joint Ram Jam Records is an intimate independent venue in Kingston upon Thames programming Jazz, Funk, Blues and Soul at it's weekly Speakeasty Party on Saturday nights. Far from being only venture we are home to Kingston's Hip-Hop community hosting our monthly show Rapper's Delight and we host a sell out Stand up comedy night every Friday night with Crack Comedy. You will also find all types of music on our much loved stage as we work with local and touring artists to bring you a variety of gigs, 2022 saw Rock, Metal, Folk, Bluegrass, Rap, Indie/ Alt and  Dance. Tim Penn has been playing at RJR for years and made our Speakeasy Party what it is today. Step back in time to the Jazz bars of New Orleans with him and his band.Cooking up a hot gumbo of New Orleans R&B, Tim Penn brings the sounds of the American Deep South to RJR with his band The Second Line.Tim Penn is one of the most ‘in demand’ keyboard players on the roots, songwriter &amp; blues scenes. Going back to the 1970s, he was a member of Twickenham legend Dorris Henderson’s Eclection and also the Kevin Coyne band alongside Andy Summers (The Police) and Gordon Smith (Described by John Peel as ”The foremost white Blues guitarist in the world “ )The band draws on the music of Fats Domino, Professor Longhair, Dr John, Allen Toussaint and then stirs it up with a pinch of Ray Charles, Tom Waits and Tim’s own original compositions, a recipe that has led to a string of sold out shows in London over the last few years. In Tim’s own words “This is the blues, but with a great big smile on its face”. Over the last few years, The Second Line has firmly established its reputation as one of the top New Orleans R&B bands in London.
