TIMBER GRIDSHELLS EXHIBITION PRIVATE VIEW and BOOK LAUNCH

Gabriel Tangis an architect and Senior Lecturer in Architecture at Sheffield Hallam University, UK. He trained at the Bartlett, University College London, UK, and worked in the offices of Foster + Partners, London. Currently completing a PhD at the University of Edinburgh, UK, on the novel use of deployable gridshells as formwork for concrete shell construction, his research interests lie in technology culture, material tectonics and the innovation synergies between architecture, structure and construction processes.

Join us to celebrate the launch of the exhibition entitled:
Timber Gridshells: Architecture, Structure and Craft.
The event coincides with the 2016 release of the Routledge publication of the same title written by John Chilton and Gabriel Tang.
The exhibition displays information, photographs, drawings of timber gridshell and related projects from around the world including Jurgen Mayer Architects, Berlin, Foster and Partners and Studio Cullinan Architects, London.
This private view directly follows on from a free guest lecture delivered by Professor Sigrid Adriaenssens from Princeton University (USA) entitled FORM, MATERIALS and SHELLS at 6pm Pennine Lecture Theatre, Level 2, Sheffield Hallam University S1 1WB right across the road from Millennium Gallery.
