Time and Tide Workshop
Join artist and archaeologist Rose Ferraby to visually explore the myriad narratives and scales of time on the coast at Alnmouth.
During a walk along the coast you’ll be encouraged to look at, note and sketch some of the different kinds of histories and stories, encompassing the human, geological and ecological. Back at the Old School Gallery the afternoon will be spent experimenting with how aspects of the coast can be collaged, thinking about layers and abstraction.
The workshop will be based at the Old School Gallery. No experience necessary. Materials provided, but you may like to bring any interesting papers that you’d like to try collaging with. Do bring a phone or camera if that helps you collect inspiration out on the walk too. Bring footwear appropriate for a walk on the beach and cliff path, and come prepared with layers of clothing for being outside for up to 2 hours.
Please bring a pack lunch cake and coffee will be provided at the gallery!
(16+)
The workshop coincides with Rose’s exhibition ‘Scarpland’, which explores and celebrates the archaeology of Northumberland.
