Sarah Sharp is a writer and musician based in Sheffield. Lyrics and narrative are a central part of her songwriting, but last year the isolation of lockdown led to a creative slump. Sarah began experimenting with found poetry, using words cut out of magazines and junk mail, as a way to get past the fear and pressure of the blank page. The little post-it poems she developed now have their own Instagram as Tiny Ransom Notes (they are not ransom notes - but this was her mum's appraisal of them!).

Sarah will explain her process, enocurage you to 'forage' for words in your recycling, then guide you through a number of mini writing tasks.

As an artistic practice it's both therapeutic and liberating, everyone has the potential to create stories and worlds using the things that already exist around us. You'll come away with a new tool for your creative practice, or fuel for generating new writing ideas.

There will be plenty of time for questions, feedback and tips on where to look for further inspiration.

Our online Zoom sessions are designed to support your wellbeing and health through creativity and are for all abilities, no experience required. We focus on reusing materials you can find around your home or natures discards. You can be sure of a warm welcome, we hope you leave feeling relaxed, having spent time in a friendly place learning something new.

An Introduction to Sarah Sharp

You'll find Sarah Sharp online as Tsarzi. Straddling the lines between pop and the avantgarde, Tsarzi creates fun, wonky and theatrical songs about home decor, cryptic crosswords and bad indie movies.

Her first album Last Decade of Love was released in 2018, followed by a collection of remixes (Lost Decayed Love) in 2019.

When This Is Over, 2020, is an introspective reflection on a year of lockdown, absence and overthinking. Her first self-produced track, it signifies a move into a more autonomous DIY aesthetic, made increasingly essential in a changing landscape both social and artistic.

Gone to the Dogs is her latest project underway, an ambitious cross-platform embodiment of a country's obsession with the lost glory of the past. With themes of Brexit, Britannia and Boris Johnson, it promises to be anything but predictable.
