Talk on Tips for Telephone Interpreting by Michelle Deeter

Speaker's bio:

Michelle Deeter is a Chinese to English translator and interpreter. She holds an MA in Interpreting and DPSI in Law. Her assignments take her to a variety of venues, including universities, botanical gardens, hospitals and hotels. She also takes on remote interpreting assignments to interpret at various meetings and conferences.

As a registrant of the National Register of Public Service Interpreters, she is experienced in both medical and legal interpreting. Michelle teaches translation and interpreting part-time at Newcastle University.

Abstract:

Telephone interpreting is a great way for practitioners to supplement other forms of income. Whether you’ve done a few assignments already, or you have not even started yet, this webinar will help you find your way.

We will go over the different providers that you can sign up with, tips for interpreting on the day, and tips for improving your skills over the long term. We will also have an extended question and answer session, so if there’s something you’re not sure about, you will get a chance to ask Michelle about it.

Certificates of Attendance are available upon request only and are subject to an additional charge of £5, payable directly to the AIT account. For further details, please contact treasurer@ait-professionals.com.

If you have any accessibility needs, please let us know at least 24 hours before the event so we can make the necessary arrangements where possible by emailing chairman@ait-professionals.com or leaving a message at our virtual office on 02030967860.
