TORCH Workshop: Collaborating with Theatres

TORCH stimulates, supports and promotes research activity of the very highest quality that transcends disciplinary and institutional boundaries, and engages with wider audiences.

Join us for a day full of examples of real-life research-based theatrical projects, and learn how to propose and fund your own!

St Luke's Chapel

Collaborating with theatres is a great way to explore new perspectives on your work and communicate your research to different audiences. Led by academics and practitioners, this innovative workshop will give you the skills and inspiration to design, propose and secure funding for your own collaborative projects.TORCH encourages and supports mutually beneficial projects between researchers and theatres in many different ways, including through the Theatres Seed Fund, which offers up to £3k for research-based theatrical collaborations. You&#x27;ll hear from the successful applicants of the last round of Seed Funding and get tips for your own applications.Our aims for this workshop are to raise awareness of the theatrical landscape and the opportunities that lie within it for researchers interested in public engagement.Open to researchers from all departments, faculties and schools.Schedule (subject to change):10.30 – 11.00: Welcome and Coffee
11.00 – 11.15: Overview of Oxfordshire theatre and the Theatres Seed Fund
11.15 – 12.15: Theatre practitioners panel featuring: Louise Chantal (Oxford Playhouse); Lucy Askew (Creation Theatre); Anja Meinhardt (Justice in Motion); and Nathan Grassi and Ida Persson (actREAL, Nathan &amp; Ida, The Dead Secrets)
12.15 – 12.45: Evaluation and Impact overview with Charlotte Medland
12.45 – 13.30: Networking lunch
13.30 – 14.30: Researchers panel featuring: Prof Wes Williams (Medieval and Modern Languages); Prof Kirsten Shepherd-Barr (English); and Dr Beth Greenhough (Geography and the Environment) with Dr Bentley Crudgington (Medical Sciences, University of Manchester)
14.30 – 15.00: Reflections (and exercise)
15.00 – 15.50: Roundtable and Q&amp;A with 2019 Seed Fund awardees: Prof Suzanne Aspden (Music); Dr George Busby (Medicine); Hannah Greenstreet (English); Dr Pete Hommel (Archaeology)
15.50 – 16.00: Closing comments
