OmVed Gardens

Specialist craft gallery Thrown presents the work of 12 artists and makers in an exhibition aiming to explore the marks we make.

OmvedGardens

In collaboration with OmVed Gardens, specialist craft gallery Thrown presents the exhibition 'Trace', specially curated for the Chelsea Fringe Festival 2023. Aiming to explore the marks we make, physical imprints and expressive gestures will add to thoughts about heritage, influence and our ecological footprint in a curated collection featuring 12 artists and makers.

The ExhibitionArtists include: Vivienne Schadinsky, a contemporary and environmental artist whose collection ‘Magic Hour’ presents a series of paintings highlighting endangered and extinct plants and fungi in our food chain; and Anna Simson, whose palm-sized clay sculptures respond to Gaia’s creatures, habitats and formations, ‘often hollow with a sense or sound of loss or what is left behind’. The wind drawings of Meg Roger will pay tribute to forces and cycles of nature, the artist in collaboration with the wind itself on the Isle of Berneray in the Outer Hebridges, Scotland, while Manchester-based artist Sam Andrew’s work puts focus on the cycle of material, with a focus on material reuse building his nerikomi vessels. For the gardens of OmVed, collections will also be found dotted amongst this tranquil green space: the first outdoor collection for sculptor Tim Martin, his work distilling landscapes, figures and natural objects to their simplest forms; the bringing together of form and words, each influencing each other, with letter-carving in stone by Pip Hall; and Sarah Walton’s ceramic bird baths, their boulder-like sloping forms tracing the landscape of the tarns of the Cumbrian hills.Full artist list:Sam Andrew, Roger Coll, Heather Gibson, Pip Hall, John Mackenzie, Tim Martin, Meg Rodger, Vivienne Schadinsky, Anna Simson, Louis Thompson, Unit89 and Sarah Walton.
