Traditional Hedgelaying Workshop
At this one-day introductory workshop you'll learn the traditional craft of restoring a healthy hedgerow through hedgelaying in the regional Midlands style.
Taught by Laura, from Laura's Woodcraft, a professional hedgelayer and coppicer based in Malvern. Laura will guide you through the process of preparing a hedgrow for laying, pleaching and building stems into stakes, and finally finishing off the hedge with hazel binders. We'll talk ecology, tools and hedgerow history. No experience needed—just a willingness to get a bit muddy!
“Laura is an inspired and inspiring enthusiast. She guided us all to make something beautiful from a raggedy piece of unkempt hedge. As well as the craftsmanship she provided us with high quality sharp tools and PPE, plus a safety briefing. A really enjoyable and enlightening event.”
This workshop is limited to 8 people so early booking is encouraged.
All tools and PPE will be provided, but you are welcome to bring along any personal kit you'd like to use.
