About this event

This whole day webinar will enable you to identify and support trainees in difficulty, and address and manage poor performance of doctors in training. It covers the role of the Educational Supervisor in these situations and provides clear guidelines on how to deal with such trainees effectively. The skills and knowledge covered in this workshop will be approached through a series of interactive case studies and are directly transferrable to many other areas requiring interpersonal skills.

Webinar timings - 10am – 12.30pm and 1.30pm – 4pm

Webinar Objectives

• Outline the main causes of trainee difficulty

• Outline supported Return To Training

• Manage the trainee in difficulty through case studies;

  • o Diagnosis
  • o Feedback
  • o Response

• and how to deal with them

• Learn useful feedback principles

• Practise giving feedback to trainees experiencing difficulties

• When, what and how to escalate concerns (Who? Documentation? Confidentiality? Trust vs Deanery?)

• What help is available to support trainees (PSW? OH? Etc)

• What help is available to support trainers (either in difficulty or supporting trainees in difficulty)
