Dementia is a growing, global challenge. As the population ages, it has become one of the

most important health and care issues facing the world.


Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course participants will be able to:

· Define what dementia is

· Look at the different forms of dementia

· Identify common signs and symptoms of dementia

· Discuss why early diagnosis might benefit a person living with dementia

· Different ways individuals may communicate, and how behaviour is a form of

communication

· How different people of different age groups are affected by dementia

· Identify how person-centred care can be put into practice

· What is ‘Well – Being’ and why this is important

· The Legislation and Legal authority that supports Individuals with Dementia


The course will cost £95 for members of erosh and £125 for non-members.

10:30am Describe the difference between Dementia, Depression and Delirium

Describe common causes and signs and symptoms of Dementia

List risk factors and comorbidities for dementia

Explain the importance of early diagnosis

11:15am Comfort Break

11:30am Describe the role of support staff in person-centred dementia care

12:15pm Identify a range of useful organisations and assistive technology for people with dementia Identify relevant national policies and drivers in dementia care
