    Transformative Education for PTAs

    Date: Friday 28th June 2024.

    Time: 10:30-12pm.

    Location: Online via Zoom.

Event type: Workshop (capacity of 30).

    Theme: Inclusive Education.

    About:

As a Postgraduate Teaching Associate (PTA), it can be easy to feel that your ability to contribute to the university's education priorities is limited by the nature of your role or the stage of your career. However, Exeter's Transformative Education Framework is something that all teaching staff, including PTAs, can contribute to and help to drive forward. We know that there is a great deal of experience, creativity, enthusiasm and talent in our PTA community, and we want everyone to feel that they have a stake in the framework and to feel empowered to make positive change in whatever way they can. The Transformative Education Framework aims to use the power of education to transform our students’ lives so that they, in turn, can transform the world. It is based around the three pillars of inclusive education; racial and social justice, and sustainability in higher education; with a goal of weaving and embedding these principles into learning experiences of every Exeter student. They can in turn support the university's broader mission to create a sustainable, healthy and socially just future. This workshop is open to PTAs from across the university to come together and discuss how can you support the principles of Transformative Education in your roles; as well as highlighting existing examples of good practice and how we can work to address some of the perceived barriers to contributing as PTAs.
