Join us at our Transformative Justice Cafe on the 10th of September at The Scottish Storytelling Centre for a day of workshops, conversation and performances around Transformative Justice.Transformative Justice is a response to violence, harm and abuse that addresses the root cause of behaviour and what we need to change, rather than responding with more violence, surveillance and repression. Safety and community mean different things to all of us, we welcome everyone to join our event, no matter your previous interactions with transformative justice.The day will begin with a ticketed workshop run by Crew 2000, a harm reduction and outreach charity from 10am - 12pm. Capacity for this is limited, please book tickets here to secure your place. From 1pm, our drop-in cafe will feature a community lunch, discussion circles and activity tables focusing on some of the current issues facing society, understanding the prison industrial complex, and resisting the harmful effects of policing in our communities. We will also explore a transformative justice approach to tackling these issues, providing a safe space for open discussion and peer learning. Throughout the day you will be able to explore the upcoming Spit It Out Autumn programme and get a first listen/copy of our Transformative Justice podcast and zine. The themes we will be exploring are:Substance use and drug policyPrison / Police AbolitionIntersectional Feminist&#x27;s perspective on Transformative JusticeUnderstanding police brutality and violenceImagining pathways forward and how we would like to organise societyProgramme of the Day13.00 - 14.00: Lunch and Introduction to TJ Cafe Day14.00 - 14.45: Welcome Talk Hosted by Aamer Anwar15:00 - 17:00: Table Discussions/Activities with Crew 2000, Lighthouse Books and Autonomous Design Group plus zine reading and podcast listening areas. 17:00 - 18:00: Performances and Open MicThis will be a trauma-informed event, with Mental Health Support available.
