A﻿re you interested in translating EU texts or are you currently translating texts for EU institutions? This one-day online workshop with Danielle Coleman is for delegates to become acquainted with the main EU bodies requiring translation services and the requirements for specific text types so that they can provide their services with confidence.This course will run from 9.30am-4.30pm on Zoom, and will cover: Morning1.	Introduction to the main EU bodies and the role of translation in the EU (30 minutes)2.	Thorough look at some European Parliament text types, includingquestions from MEPs, petitions and amendments (30 minutes)3.	Small group exercises: research approaches for European Parliamenttext types (30 minutes)15-minute break4.	Presentation on Court of Justice text types (30 minutes)5.	Individual exercise: on terminology and research (30 minutes)6.	Summary of morning’s work and feedback (30 minutes)45-minute lunch breakAfternoon7.	Presentation on LSPs, tenders and how to locate EU translation contract holders for different language combinations (30 minutes)8.	Presentation and walk-through of translation of a European Central Bank text (30 minutes)9.	Small group exercises: spot the translation errors (30 minutes)15-minute break10.	Group discussion on challenges of EU text translation (30 minutes)11.	Presentation of top tips for further research and practice (20 minutes)12.	Q and A, feedback and wrap-up (25 minutes)Key take-aways:•	Have an overview of the different EU institutions, how they work together and the main text types they produce•	Locate the most authoritative style guides, terminology lists and formatting rules for the European Parliament, the Court of Justice and the European Commission•	Use publicly available parallel texts to improve terminology consistency•	Translate EU texts with confidence•	Knowledge of LSPs currently offering EU-related translation workThis course aims to be as interactive as possible so attendees will be encouraged to share their business practices with the course facilitator and each other in a mutually supportive environment.
