Trauma Informed Practice
An interactive training course exploring trauma and how trauma informed practice can be used to support those who have experienced trauma.
LWA are an established charity who have been providing domestic and sexual abuse services since 1977. We regularly deliver training to professionals and organisations across the UK. Our training is created by a skilled trainer who has direct knowledge and experience of supporting individuals who have experienced trauma.
This training will provide participants with the knowledge and tools on how to support people who have experienced trauma. This training is interactive and will involve group discussions and activities. You will be provided with a certificate of attendance upon completion of the training. The training will be online via Microsoft Teams.
This training will give you the knowledge and skills to:
- Define what we mean by trauma;
- Explore what Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is;
- Learn about Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and how these relate to trauma;
- Explore the impact that trauma can have on people;
- Explore resilience and protective factors;
- Understand what is meant by trauma informed practice;
- Learn how to implement trauma informed practice to support people who have experienced trauma.
This training is suitable for:
- Professionals and volunteers working with people who have experienced trauma;
- Managers and team leaders who support staff working with people who have experienced trauma;
- Members of the public who want to develop their knowledge and skills to be able to support family members or friends who have experienced trauma.

LWA endeavor to create a safe place for participants attending training. A critical part of safety is maintaining confidentiality. As a participant, you agree to adhere to confidentiality, including not disclosing any personal information about other participants, and not taking photos, screenshots or recording the training. Trauma informed practice can be a sensitive topic and some of the information that we discuss may be triggering. Your participation in the training is entirely voluntary - please take care of yourself and take a break if needed. The trainer will be available after the training if you need to talk.
