Tree Walk with Greg Packman
Join arboriculturist Greg Packman for a fascinating walk all about the ecology of trees at Walthamstow Wetlands.
While oaks often get the glory for being one of the most ecologically important trees, there is another contender for the crown: willows!
These wetland wonders provide nectar for bees, food for caterpillars, and nesting sites for birds. They’re a crucial driver of biodiversity across the UK.
Greg will talk about the ecological importance of willows, as well as other tree species, on this two-hour walk around Walthamstow Wetlands.
Important information
The walk will be fully outdoors, so dress for the weather! There may be some gentle inclines so strong stout footwear is recommended.
This event is aimed at adults aged 18+, but can be inclusive for young people aged 11 and above, who must be accompanied by an adult.

Greg is an award-winning arboriculturist and currently serves as the Treescape Curator at the Royal Parks. His deep knowledge and enthusiasm for these incredible organisms is evident on each of his walks.
About Walthamstow Wetlands
This London Wildlife Trust reserve is one of the largest urban wetlands in Europe. It supports a huge variety of wildlife and is the perfect backdrop for learning more about trees, their habitats, and their ecology.
