Welcome to the **TRIPTYCH SHRINE BOOK - Online Creative Bookbinding Workshop via Zoom**! Join us on two Sundays May 12 & May 19 **at **10:30 AM** (British Summer Time) for a fun and interactive virtual event where you'll learn the art of bookbinding from the comfort of your own home. This workshop will teach you how to create your very own unique triptych shrine book as a container of a spirit of something or someone special. From Medieval Latin scrīnium (“reliquary”), “case or chest for books or papers” in Classical Latin.

This online workshop will run in two parts:

Part 1: Sunday 12th May

Part 2: Sunday 19th May

Time: 10.30 am - 12.30pm both days

Both sessions will be RECORDED so if you can't join us live, you still can sign up and create it at your own convenience using the recordings that don't have expiry date!

You will need -

MATERIALS:

  • 3 x A4 greyboard 1mm thickness, 21 x 29.7cm
  • 2 pieces 13 x 2 of greyboard 1.5-2mm thickness
  • Bookcloth 2 pieces 15 x 5cm and 2 pieces 12.5 x 4.5cm
  • 28 x A5 cartridge paper, 21 x 14.8cm, long grain; folded in half long way (folded 21 x 7.4cm), 120-130gsm // before folding it can be coloured or dyed with tea, beetroot, watercolour wash or deluted acrylic
  • 4 x A5 coloured thin card, 21 x 14.8 cm, long grain; folded in half long way, 140-160gsm (they are wrappers for the sections and are OPTIONAL)
  • Coloured linen thread, 2 meters
  • 2 miniature door handles, brass, 1cm height
  • 2 x A4 decorative paper (Japanese Chiyogami Decorative Paper or handmade decorative paper from Nepal or India would be preferred), 21 x 29.7cm , MAIN COLOUR
  • 2 1/2 x A4 the same decorative paper but different complementary colour and design, 21 x 29.7cm, SECONDARY COLOUR
  • PVA glue , brush and waste paper as an old glossy magazine
