The Word is a tate-of-the-art cultural venue in South Tyneside, brimming with exciting new experiences, activities and facilities for people of all ages to engage and enjoy.

The Word, National Centre for the Written Word

Acclaimed playwright, screenwriter and author Michael Chaplin will be reading a number of selected True Stories written by local writers following a submission process.
The stories, no longer than 500 words, will be accounts of events that really happened once upon a time. They might be tales of the sea or the docks, the mine or the factory; stories of families, love or war; of crime, friendship, ghosts or weird coincidence. At this fantastic event there really will be no limits! 
Audience members will then get the opportunity to discuss the stories with Michael Chaplin. It’s going to be an amazing night you don’t want to miss.
