These are some of the questions that Trust In The Future seeks to explore during a free expert seminar in central London on Friday 7th October, from 10.15-12.45.
The function or absence of ‘trust’ is a prevailing theme in work with young people facing challenges in their transition to the promised land of ‘adult independence’. The results from Brexit are a potential indicator that we are living through a time of diminishing levels of trust. As trust is increasingly called into question in our charities, institutions, communities and relationships, how can we re-find its value to strengthen social capital and purpose?
Drawing on different voices and insights, Trust In The Future will explore the importance of trust and how it can be nurtured to positive effect among an audience of leading thinkers and practitioners in the youth space.  Participants will be engaged in powerful conversations to reflect on the more conscious use of ‘trust’ approaches in our work with and understanding of young people.
Expert contributions include: Caroline McFarland, Director of Covi, on young people’s voices from Brexit; Foyer Federation, on the development of a ‘TrustYouth’ movement; Professor Mike Hardy, on learning from the Centre for Trust, Peace and Social Relations where he is Executive Director; and Colin Falconer, Director of InspireChilli, on trust as an essential ‘asset’ for investment.
